Retaining Walls

Engineered retaining walls designed for long-term performance.

Segmental, natural stone, and boulder retaining walls constructed to industry specifications. Compacted aggregate base, geogrid reinforcement, integrated drainage, and engineered batter on every installation.

What we deliver

The scope, written out plainly.

  • Segmental block walls
  • Natural stone walls
  • Boulder walls
  • Garden and terraced walls
  • Structural walls with geogrid reinforcement
  • Integrated drainage and weep systems

How we work

The five-step process.

01

Evaluate the load

We assess slope, soil, surcharge, and water to confirm what the wall needs to do structurally, not just visually.

02

Design and select materials

We select block, stone, or boulder based on aesthetics, height, and load. You see samples before we order.

03

Excavate and base

Walls live or die at the base. We over-excavate, place compacted aggregate, and check level twice before the first course.

04

Build with proper drainage

Every wall gets a drainage chimney, perforated pipe, and outlet so hydrostatic pressure has somewhere to go.

05

Backfill and cap

We backfill in lifts with the right material, install geogrid where needed, and finish with caps and clean planting beds.

Frequently asked

Questions about retaining walls.

Do retaining walls really need drainage?

Yes. Water trapped behind a wall is the number one reason walls bow, lean, or fail. Every wall we build includes drainage by default.

How long should a properly built wall last?

A wall built on a compacted base with proper drainage and geogrid where required will typically perform for decades with minimal maintenance.

Do I need a permit?

Walls over a certain height require permits and sometimes engineering in Greene County and surrounding jurisdictions. We handle that conversation up front.
